FOOD FOR THOUGHT

Many thanks to Jessica from Food Stuffs for coming to school on Tuesday and teaching us a huge amount about foods and what is in them.
On Wednesday we walked down to Peer Street New World and checked out the nutritional value of a range of foods.
Room 19 were extremely well behaved. Many thanks to our parents Dani, Kaori, Dean and Melissa for coming along and helping us out.

Look at the amount of sugar in each drink.

Another fantastic week in Room 19. Thank you to the fantastic efforts of all of the tamariki.

DELICIOUS BISCUITS

WEDNESDAY: We were learning about eggs, the parts of an egg, who can remember these? Also the changes that occur when we just use egg whites or Egg Yolks.

ARTS EXTRAVAGANZA: Thank you to everyone who made the time to come along to Ilam and check out all of the wonderful art works that were on display. We had wonderful feedback about our Sock puppets and clay monster.

New App

We learnt about a new app, well it is new to us. Grace, Sophie and Raeann gave it a go this afternoon.
If you have an iPad then you might like to get on your device. It is free.

Room 19 Changes

We have had a discussion about something we think we could change about ourselves here and now.

Congratulations

Congratulations to the following tamariki for working hard on different tasks.

Last week our Golden Key students got to present their project. They had all worked well within their group and with their Mentor.

Also we have a wonderful gymnast in Room 19 who competed in her first competition during the weekend. She received 2 firsts, a 3rd and an overall First prize. Well done Raeann. Good Luck in Invercargill this weekend.

Kitchen Chemistry

Today we had some time in the Sci/tech room working on a couple of experiments.

First we made Sherbert Fizz. We used a number of different ingredients and we had to taste them. Next we filled in a sheet to describe the taste, texture and smell. All ingredients were tried by them selves and then some we tried mixed.

When we got to the final part, it tasted great. One students asked what would happen if we added food colour to change the colour of the Sherbet. We gave that a go.  Check us out!

Also the recipe is on here as well.

WeeK 7

We have been super busy in Room 19 during the last couple of weeks.  We have said Goodbye to two of our wonderful students. Jenson and Emil. We wish them all the best, Jenson for his time back in South Africa and Emil at his new school in Redcliffs.
 GOODBYE EMIL

We all signed Jensons t-shirt for him to take back home.

Last week we watched this cool clip on Giraffes and then wrote a short piece of writing to go with it. We thought you would enjoy watching the clip. We will publish our writing this week.
