CUTE CUBES

We have been learning about Geometry for the past few weeks. We now know more about 2D, 3D shapes, parallel and perpendicular lines, right angles, acute and obtuse angles. We also know some things about translation, reflection, rotation and symmetry.

Check out some nets that we made up into shapes:

Tuakana Teina is something that happens in our class, learning from others.

Watch the clip of Yvann showing us how to put our cute cubes together.

Little Freak

Wow, what awesome writing we completed last week.
We were learning to write a setting and character description. We have to use descriptive language such as adjectives and adverbs.

Check out some of the great writing.

Wind howling, thunder crackling, trees gushing, it was as if the sky was crying. The little circus cart sat still amongst the storm, inside, the little boy sat there carving wood. He had an interest in that. His lips were tight, his nose popping out from the gloomy face that he held, and his eyes were at a different height.

The circus cart was dull, sad and dark. The only source of light was the bright moonlight shining through the small plastic window.

The big sliding door opened up letting the wind swarm in. His father stepped inside and placed a small slice of cake on the table, “make a wish lad”. The boy teared up, “there’s so much to wish for.” He argues with his father, the pain in his voice becomes stronger. “I want to look normal, carve wood! I don’t want people to line up and call me horrible names.” He blew the candle out, and the cart went silent.

A night only lit up by strikes of lightning, there was a lonely wagon and inside a small room lit up by only a single candle. The room was a jail-like space with the area so cramped that you could barely walk through it. All you could hear was thunder, lightning and the sound of a knife being carved into wood.

Little freak sitting alone on a rickety rackety chair, he is looking down as his wrinkled hands chopped away on the wood . He has bulging eyes and a round nose covered with small brown freckles. A hump above his eye makes him look like a beast but he is quite a softy. His skin is very tight and his face big and round. He is an emotional and peaceful person. Be careful because you might change his mood…..

Pieces of timber we're falling onto the slowly rotting wood floor. All you could hear was the deafening noise of thunder and downpour hitting the top of the wagon. The wagon was swaying in the wind as if it would fall over then the door had crept open. The wind was unbearably strong, it was pushing the chains around, the small boy slowly got up his legs weren’t very strong a flash of thunder lit up the sky and you could see his face, an abnormally big lump above his eye, the little freak’s nose was bulging out of his face. His head was smoother than a newly polished bowling ball.

Little freak heard footsteps slowly getting louder until someone had come in it was his dad

He was holding a slice of cake and whispered

“Make a wish son” a tear dropped from little freaks face as he exclaimed “there's so much that I could wish for Freedom, To look normal, A new sweater” He dropped his piece of wood and started yelling “YOU DID THIS TO ME DAD. You did this to us, in your world. It's all about money you never thought about my world.”
