Richard Hore

We were so lucky to be invited over to one of the Year 2 classes to join in with listening to their visitor today. Richard Hore came in with his guide dog, Grace. He read to us from is book that was in Braille. Can you remember what he read? The book was very old. It was given to him when he was 8. Richard also play his keyboard for us, wow check out the video clips below.

What did you learn from him related to communication?

Harere Ra

Goodbye and good luck to Jannah. She has been with Room 19 for all of this year and some of last year. Unfortunately for Room 19, Friday was her last day.

There were a few tears by many of us as Lily read her poem to her.  You will be missed by all of us.

CYCLE SAFTEY

Year 6 students have a fantastic opportunity to work on cycle safety with the Christchurch City Council Cycle Safety team.

What an awesome display of Growth Mindset shown here by Anya. "at first she did not succeed buy by gently discussing the task and giving it her all she accomplished the goal of riding her bike.

Te Wiki o te Reo Māori

What a great week we had.
HAERE Mai to our new student teacher: Olivia Drew-Brook into Room 19. I know that she will enjoy working with all of our fantastic tamariki.

We all had a chance to write Te Reo or draw images with chalk on the Senior Courts.

The week that was Week 7

Another week has flown by with lots of wonderful things happening in Room 19 and Senior School.

Huge thanks to the parents who helped their child with the speech writing. We had 100 % of students present their speech during the last couple of weeks.

These 4 student were our top speech writers and presenters. It was very close and hard to pick only two Year 5 and two Year 6 students.

These are the Room 19 students who went on to represent us.

HOME LEARNING:
Alex made us some Dumplings and they were delicious

CONGRATULATIONS TO THESE 4 students who play in the Thunder basketball team. They were selected to play in a Wharenui Gators Rep team.

CHECK OUT THE PEACE FLAGS that are on display throughout the whole school. These were made by the children last term. They add a bit of colour to the school buildings.
