Flat Stanley watched a documentary about Tuatara in the movie theater,

it's lucky Michael knows some VIP people and we were able to get Flat Stanley a behind the scenes tour.

He's had a ride on the words fastest Indian racer

and said hello to some very special Tuatara ( we had to be careful because Henry the Tuatara thought Stanley looked like a delicious snack)
The photo below is the Tuatara Man with Cat one of Henrys wee friends. Cat is called Cat because he has Cataracts but he doesn't let that stop him!  Did you know Tuatara can live to 300years old and that they have closely linked characteristics to a bird !

more to come, next stop the World famous Queens Park gardens and he may even be lucky enough to have a ride on a John Deere Tractor !

Talk soon :)

Wow more adventures: He has also had a trip to the Caitlins:

I bet he's exhausted for the long journey from Christchurch to Kuala Lumpur. Time to rest as a very exciting journey is awaiting him.

Can't wait to share with you more on his stay with us. Stay tune!! 😉

Here is Stanley on our apartment balcony. We live on a wharf which is in Wellington Harbour. Wellington is the capital city of New Zealand. You can see Te Papa in the background. It has a lot of really fun exhibits and is very interesting.

This photo is taken from the top of Mt Victoria. It is a very long walk to the top but you get an amazing view of Wellington city!

This is also at the top of Mt Victoria and in the background is Wellington airport.

This is me and Sally at Oriental Bay in Wellington. Lots of people love going to the beach on a hot day (not a hot day today!)

This is me and Chris at a French restaurant in Wellington. Very yummy food!

This is at Paraparaumu which is north of Wellington. You can see Kapiti Island in the background. Kapiti Island is a bird sanctuary and has kiwi and takahe and other native birds there.

I slept in a tent in Paraparaumu it was really fun!

Dear Beloved Charmaine (Mei Mei),

Hi, Yima still prefers to call you Mei Mei. Maybe you could explain to your friends and Teacher Linda, what does Mei Mei means?

Stanley is having a great time with us. We went to many places and we had so many foodies. I'm sure Stanley enjoyed all the foodies he had today and of course we enjoyed it too. Let's see what Stanley had today. Anything that you miss? Are you able to introduce all the local Malaysian food to your friends? Malaysia is well known for yummy food where we enjoy every meal no matter at home or out of home. I'm sure you miss Malaysia food too right?

Beside food, Stanley went to the famous Petronas Twin Tower too. It is the tallest twin towers in the world. So who's the little boy taking photo with Stanley? EmojiEmoji

We also went to Batu Caves. It is a site of a Hindu temple and shrine, Batu Caves attracts thousands of worshippers and tourists, especially during the annual Hindu festival, Thaipusam. Its main attraction is the large statue of the Hindu God at the entrance, besides a steep 272 climb up its steps to finally view the stunning skyline of the city centre. The 272 steps were painted into colourful rainbow colours recently. Isn't it beautiful?

Stanley is very lucky to witness the construction of another going to be tallest building in Malaysia. The TRX. We had our dinner at the restaurant right in front of it.

We brought Stanley to a local wholesale market too. Stanley met his old friend here. The Zespri Kiwifruit.

That's all for the first day of Stanley with us today.

More interesting holiday stories from Stanley soon.

See you and take care.

Dear Beloved Charmaine (Mei Mei),

Hi... Today is Monday. Stanley get to stay at home to relax and enjoy some quiet time while we went for school n work.

Well... Today's story sharing from Stanley is the chance to see the practice of Chinese 24 Festival Drums.

Malaysia is a multi racial country. The 3 main races are Malay, Chinese and Indians. We have the freedom of multi religions, multi langual, multi lifestyle and many more.

Chinese 24 Festival Drums is a traditional Chinese drumming which we're perform during celebrations, opening ceremonies and even competitions.

Let's see you can spot your 2 little cousins.

Hope you and your friends enjoy the short performance. The file is too big to be attached here. I will send it in a separate email.

Love💖

Hi class,

I touched down safe and sound in Melbourne, received a warm welcome from Sophie’s uncle (pic 1), and set about taking in a few of the sights of the city.

Melbourne is a big place, being Australia’s second largest city, and home to more than 4 million people. Getting around is made easier, however, thanks to its large public transport system. Alongside trains and buses, Melbourne has the largest network of trams in the world, which criss-cross the cities roads. We grabbed one of these trams, and headed for the city centre (pic 2).

On the way, we stopped off close to where Sophie’s uncle works, and took a look around nearby Albert Park.  Along with several sports facilities, and plenty of fields, Albert Park has a large lake in the centre of it (pic 3).
It also where the Melbourne International Grand Prix is held, with the road that encircles the park being transformed into a motor racing track around March each year (pic 4).

NB: you can see an aerial view of the park on the bottom right of the ‘Melbourne’ postcard.

After taking a quick stroll around the lake, we continued on to the city.
We got off the tram by Flinders Street Station (one of the four main train stations that bring people in and out of the CBD) (pic 5),
and had a look around the city.

We stopped by Federation Square, where lots of cultural attractions are held (pic 6),
and saw some horses ready to take tourists on a more leisurely trip around the sites (pic 7).

We also visited a souvenir shop, and picked up a couple of post cards for the class to look at (pic 8 & 9).

Heading back home, we passed over the Yarra River – one of the major waterways in the city. Looking to the east side (pic 10),

you can see the South Bank shopping and entertainment centre, and in the background of the second picture (pic 11),

looking towards the west, you can just make out the top of the famous Melbourne Cricket Ground – known as the MCG, or just ‘the G’ to locals. Melbournians are widely known for being sports mad, and the MCG is one of many stadiums in the city. It plays host to cricket matches in the summer, and AFL matches in the winter. Rugby isn’t a big game in Melbourne, the way it is in New Zealand, and AFL (Australian Football League) is the main game everyone is obsessed with.

I had a great visit, and saw lots of sights, but it was time to head home, so Sophie’s uncle dropped me off at the local Post Office (pic 12),
and I started my long journey back to NZ.

Stanley.

Here you can read about castle Bouvigne.

In the neighborhood of Breda you have a lot of forests. So we went to see them with Flat Stanley.

The house of Grace locates in the Koog aan de Zaan, Netherlands.
Koog aan de Zaan (Dutch pronunciation: [ˈkoːx aːn də ˈzaːn]) is a town in the Dutch province of North Holland. It is a part of the municipality of Zaanstad, and lies about 11 km northwest of Amsterdam. The most famous place in my town is Zaanse Schans(Dutch pronunciation: [ˈzaːnsə ˈsxɑns]). It is the best known for its collection of well-preserved historic windmills and houses.
Creaking windmills, little wooden houses with green facades, hump-backed bridges, brand-new clogs, row and rows of cheese blocks. And water wherever you look. Zaanse Schans could come straight out of a picture book of Holland in the 17th and 18th century.
Flat Stanley has a short visit in Zaanse Schans and bring you some souvenirs not only from the town, but also from the Netherlands J
Postcards will be sent to you  at soon.

Ava Jane has had so much fun with Flat Stanley.  We will be sure to get him in the post this weekend, but wanted you to have the photos right away!  We have included some information about Knoxville and the sights he and Ava Jane visited.

Hello Sophie’s class!

Stanley made found his way to sunny England for a bit of a beach holiday with me, Melinda!

On Saturday morning he went for a walk on Caister-on-Sea beach. There’s a video attached to this email and some photos to follow of what Caister beach is like. Most beaches in England are stony or made of pebbles, but here in Norfolk, on the North Sea, we are lucky to have white sand beaches. Maybe that’s why this area has long been considered to be a holiday destination. In fact, the town of Great Yarmouth, to the south of Caister, first became a seaside resort in 1760. I’ll email some old postcard pictures so you can see what it used to be like and what it’s like nowadays.

to be continued...

Anyway, Stanley enjoyed his walk on the beach with me and my dog Ted. We watched the offshore wind turbines as they create power for the county. They are actually ‘planted’ in the sea on a moving sandbank called Scroby Sands.

Caister is also famous for its Lifeboat. There are lots of Lifeboats around the coast of Britain, ready to launch into action to resume those who have gotten into trouble at sea. The Lifeboat is launched over the sand using a big tractor.

Here’s a picture of Ted, just because he’s cute. He has his poppy on to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the end of WWI.
Caister is also famous for its Roman ruins. These ruins used to be a building, constructed around AD 200 for a unit of the Roman army and navy and was occupied until around 370-390 AD.

Caister also has a castle, with a moat, that was built by Sir John Fastolf between 1432 and 1446!

POSTCARDS FORM THE PAST

POSTCARD FROM THE PRESENT

Stanley has a great time at a party on Saturday night. On and around the 5th November each year, families gather to set off fireworks and light bonfires in celebration of Guy Fawkes. He was famous for NOT blowing up the Houses of Parliament (but trying to). He and some mates got together to try to bring down the parliament (the Great Gunpowder Plot) but they failed and so each year, people celebrate his failure by burning bonfires. Sometimes they even burn a Guy - a dummy made to look like Mr Fawkes.

And finally, Stanley went to work with me. I’m a teacher so I thought you might like a look at my classroom. I teach in Year 2. The children are 6 and 7 years old. This was before school, though!

Thanks for sending Stanley to me for a visit. He was really good company for Ted and I think he liked the sight seeing we did. It was really nice to meet him.

If you have any questions about the area I live in, feel free to ask them.

Kind regards,

Melinda B 😁
