Design Competition - environmentally-friendly reusable bag!
Countdown is phasing out single use plastic carrier bags by the end of 2018. That means 350 million less plastic bags in our environment every year!
To celebrate, Countdown is giving Kiwi kids the chance to create some awesome artwork to feature on their reusable bags and to be sold in Countdown stores nationwide!
Just download the template, design your environmentally-friendly bag and upload it here for your chance to win your artwork design featured on bags in Countdown stores nationwide.
The winner will also win an awesome trip for their school class to learn about conservation and the New Zealand environment!
$1 from every bag sale will be donated to Forest & Bird, one of New Zealand’s longest-standing and most respected environmental charities charged with protecting our precious flora and fauna on land and in oceans, lakes and rivers.
So get on board, get your artwork in and together we can do a bit of good to protect our precious New Zealand environment.
ENTRIES MUST BE RECEIVED BY 12.00pm FRIDAY 1st JUNE

FUTSAL and Assemby
Thursday was our introduction to FUTSAL. Sam came along to Ilam school to teach us skills. We all enjoyed it. He will be back each Thursday for the next 4 weeks.
Thursday was also Assembly day and it was taken by the ESOL team. Well done to the Junior ESOL students for the great singing. Also congratulations to our students, Jannah, Methuki and Vanshika for their great speaking and being in charge of the computers.
BASKETBALL
On Monday there was a basketball tournament held at Bishopdale YMCA.
What a fantastic display of sportsmanship shown by all of the Ilam Thunder team members. What was even better is that they won the competition. This means that they will represent the West Zone at the Centrals competition in June.

Buddy Class
On Wednesday we were lucky enough to work with our buddy class on an art activity. We all worked really well with each other.

CRUSADERS VISIT
We had a couple of Crusaders come to visit us. They shared information about themselves and then we had a question session. Our students who were playing in the Rugby Fun Day had time to have a skills session with them.
