Week One

What a great first week back we have had.

A few games of Splat and then a "Moo Off"

GEOMETRY: What new learning have you made this week in Geometry? , 2D & 3D Shapes, what is the difference? What are perpendicular lines and parallel lines?
TANGRAMS: Great work Dylan, solving one shape with your tangrams.

LIFE EDUCATION: Meeting Harold again. What is an UPSTANDER? Did you learn anything new in your session with Jamie?

SLIME: What fun we had on Friday afternoon as there was no sport, making Slime. Thanks to Poppy who helped everyone.

WRITING: This week we were inspired by a poem by James K. Baxter: what fantastic poems we write. Below is a sample of our poems.

The park was usual enough, it had
A large field, a climbing dome, a seesaw, a sky,
Over it, and even a stout public toilet,
That I never went to.
Dad, my friends, and I,
Did what we were there for:
Staged a nerf war.
Crept like bandits around the trees.
But for the rest of the day, filled ourselves with sprite and doritos,
Even pineapple lumps,
Doing nothing important.

Adam

Hanmer, as beautiful as always; it had
hot pools, a canary, gourmet fudge and kumara chips
hidden in my backpack, and even a little park
with a small pond, I never went to.
My grandma Ronny, my parents and I
did what most people in Hanmer do-
go to the hot pools, chillaxing, venture off on walks that make your legs feel like jelly, wonder into shops where you have to resist the urge on buying something, smiling because you're with your family enjoying life,
doing nothing important.

Nadia

The mall was usual enough
filled with so many people going to shops such as pak’n'save, Farmers and K mart.
My mum and I jumping from shop to shops frogs. And constantly dodging other shoppers while wasting time. Sometimes coming out with bags filled with items. Then racing home
doing nothing Important.

Parth

The cinema was usual enough it had;
seats, speakers, lots of people and a roof over head. My friend and I eating chips and drinking drinks.
Covering our ears at the loud bombs, seeing all the soldiers drown as my heart sank
so did the soldiers boat.
Doing something important
Patrick

Wellington city was normal enough ; it had
Some hills, an art gallery, a beach, a sky
Over it, and even a botanical gardens I never
Went to.
My cousin and I did what
Girls do - got a manicure and a pedicure,
Finger knitting, dodging the boy’s bullets, dozing
Like lizards on deck chairs in the hot sun,
Peaceful or loud, doing nothing important.
ANYA

The airport was busy like usual, it had
Stores, food court, noise and people everywhere
Check in counters - that I never went to
My mom and I, did what families do -
Waited like two hungry lions for my dad to arrive,
checked the time, played on phones, jumped or
joked, Doing Nothing Important.
Charmaine

The beach was usual enough; it had
A walkway, a cliff, a bush, a sea
Next to it, and even boulders that
Tourists were so attracted to.
My brothers, my parents and I
Did what visitors do, took endless
Photos, made letters in the sand, leapt from boulder to
Boulder, snuck around like hunting lions in
Pieces of rock and branches,
Hid behind ledges, played or ran.
Doing nothing important.
