Matariki

What a fantastic evening it was tonight to celebrate Matariki at Ilam School. Congratulations to the Kapa Haka group who sounded brilliant. What a lot of work has gone into your performance this year. 

We also celebrated Matariki today in Room 19 by making Pumpkin Soup and Bread. Everyone contributed in some way.

Many thanks to Annabel and Graham for coming along and helping out.

WEEK 9

We have so many things happening this week I thought I would remind you of them:

WHOLE WEEK: learning about Matariki, Great Kiwi competition tests

MONDAY: Star Dome for year 3-6

TUESDAY: Lunch time sports training

WEDNESDAY: Soup and bread making, please come and join in if you have time
                         Lunch time basketball training
                         Matariki community evening, come along for a great night. 

THURSDAY: North West Festival practice all morning
                      North West Festival in the evening
                      Passion time in the afternoon

FRIDAY:  PTA Hot chocolate;
                Winter Sport in the afternoon





Week 8

Wow another week has flown by and we have all been so busy,

  • Miss Cass's last day
  • Basketball Semi finals




The Ilam Thunder team had their semi final on Friday night.Wow what great sports people they are: not letting what others say get them down.  The team unfortunately lost by only 3 goals. Heads up high for next week's game. 11-8 against St Andrews.

Week 7 In Room 19

 Nadia has come up with a new way to help her cold


 Jigsaw activity to work out different types of volcanoes. Can you remember the difference between the 3 types we discussed? 


 WHOOPSY: the huge winds on Wednesday took their toll on one of the trees in the entrance to our school. 

 PARTH: Wow what awesome work, gaining a certificate for level 17 in Lexia.


 MANY THANKS TO THE PTA of Ilam school for the $100 Warehouse voucher for new games for our classroom. Look at what we have now.

What an awesome day we had. It started off very frosty but what fantastic weather.

Week 6

Another week has flown by and it seemed short as it was short:)

We have all missed Sojin and Jo Woo this week We hope they are both enjoying being back home.

This week we had an assembly which was run by ESOL and we had a few dancers from Room 19  up on stage performing.

Passion Time has been going well and all of the students are working their goals around this time. They set a goal related to our new Ilam Shcool vision then reflect on it after Passion time. 

READING and WRITING has been related to Volcanoes.What new vocabulary have you learnt that is related to the Earths volcanoes. 

SPORT: Due to wet weather on Tuesday we do not have our lunch time sports training but we had games today. It was so good to be out int he sunshine playing. Well done to all students who remember to bring their uniforms and gear every week. Our Basketball team has been going very well. They have now had 3 games and they have won 2 and drawn one. Keep up the great work.

WEEK 7: Next week is shaping up to be a very busy week. 

MONDAY: Puss in Boots performance in the morning

TUESDAY: Year 6 students visit Kirkwood Intermediate: Year 5 students will be split amongst Room 2, 3 & 4

Sports training at lunch time

WEDNESDAY: Basketball training at lunch time

THURSDAY: Run A Kilometre for Kids:  Yay this is supporting one of my favourite charities.

Two Students Down

Thank you so much to everyone who was able to bring in food last Friday for our morning tea to say Goodbye to Sojin and Ji Woo. There was lots of yummy food.
