ATHLETICS DAY

Wow what  a wonderful day we had on Tuesday for our Athletics Day. The morning started off wet,but the sun sure did shine down on us.
Many thanks to all of our parents for the time and effort that they put into volunteering. Without your help that event would not be able to run successfully.

We were very fortunate to have students from New Zealand Institute of Sport to help us as well. I know that the Ilam students loved having them there and so did we!

Students who have got through to the zones will be notified very soon.

WEEK ONE

ASK ME ABOUT

ATHLETICS: an athletics notice should have come home on Friday. We would really appreciate parent helpers for this event. Even if you are able to help for a short session, each event needs a number of helpers so that the event is run smoothly. Thank you

This week we have begun our rotations of the various activities, learning the skills behind high jump, Long Jump, discus, shot and running techniques. We will be out 4 days a week, weather dependent.

DISASTERS: For reading we have been reading and listening to accounts from Mrs Ewen about disasters, mainly earthquakes, cyclones, hurricanes and storms. This will help us learn to be prepared in the event of another disaster happening.

BINARY: We have learnt a lot about this during the week. Ask me about it.

ART: On Friday we had a short session on our new topic in Art, sketching. We learnt how to hatch and cross hatch.

BYOD: This week was our first week for bringing our devices. We have received almost all of the agreement forms back. Thank you

We have begun the term in a great manner. Our discussions this week have been centered around the following:

Welcome to Term 4

Phew that holiday sure flew by didn't it. I hope that you all had a great break.

This term is going to busy with Athletics, Swimming, Touch on Tuesday afternoons, Cricket during school on Fridays and then all of our learning as well.

The end of the holidays saw Daniella and Ava up at the Christchurch Adventure Park. They got to have a tour of what is happening and also provide their ideas to the track designers before the pump track is designed. Hopefully they will get another chance to get up to the site before the track is completed then they will also get a chance to be the first to ride the track before it opens. Unfortunately William and Adam were unable to make it this time.

It was an amazing chance for me to see what is happening here right in our city. Such a world class operation.

PAY IT FORWARD:
Congratulations to Giulia and Niamh who have completed a wonderful pay it forward project. They decided that they would like to bake for Ronald McDonald house. They emailed to check if this would be ok and got the go ahead. So in the holidays this is what they did....
