Many thanks to Ava's Nana who came down to the netball courts at Hagley to watch the team play a couple of weeks ago. She took some great photos of the team playing.

Week 8
This week we welcomed a new student teacher: Mr Daly to Room 19. He is here for 2 weeks this term and then he will be back working with us in Term 4. We know that he will enjoy being with us.
The Year 6 students had a great morning at Cobham during the week. They were involved in a number of activities that they thoroughly enjoyed.
ART: We are slowly putting together our next masterpiece after an idea from Miss Cocks.
Keep checking in to see what we are up to.
Some of our Environmental Art has made it into the administration block. It has been framed and hung up on the wall in the stairwell. Come and check it out.
Our Inquiry Topic took a different turn this week. We are now working in a range of gorups around questions that we all had. Some of us are working on plants, some are delving into the rubbish at Ilam, some are watching country calendar about bees and others are making phone calls to experts.
What is happening in this photo?
Next Week: We all need to remember to bring our diaries every day. We also need to make sure that we are checking them every night and completing whatever we have written in them. It is all very good when we write down each day our tasks for at home, but the next step is to make sure we check it and let our parents know what our expectations are.
Remember to go on Matheltics, (and Lexia) and to work on our Science badges.
Have a great weekend and
GO THE ALL BLACKS

Matariki
We have had another busy week in Room 19.
It was great to see the students who were able to make it at the Matariki celebration. Talking to a parent today after school, she felt the same as me...there was a great amount of learning from presenters.
As part of the learning Room 19 prepared Rewena paraoa which is traditional Maori bread. First we had to make a potato bug and then leave that for about 24 hours. The next step was to add flour, salt and sprinkle over baking soda and knead for 10 minutes. Adam, Niamh and Charles were great at doing the kneading.
Today we all worked in the Tech room making Pumpkin and Kumara soup. There have been mixed thoughts about the soup. Most of us loved the bread though.
